The Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) led by Hitendra Thakur has claimed that in an infrastructural boost to the Vasai taluka, two roll-on, roll-off, also known as 'ro-ro' ferry services will soon become operational. The two routes will be from Vasai Fort to Bhayandar Jetty and from Narangi to Saphale.
"The whole effort is to ease people's woes and channelise the traffic in a way that is effective as well as time-saving. In the near future, the ro-ro service will be an integral pillar of the transport system in Maharashtra," said BVA president and Vasai MLA Hitendra Thakur.
The decision was taken after a delegation from Mumbai Maritime Board (MMB), led by MMB CEO Dr Manik Gursal, and Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) delegation led by Hitendra Thakur and Nallasopara MLA Kshitij Thakur, formed a committee and conducted a meeting to survey and finalise the route considering the ease of commute and the amount of water traffic along the route.
"The ferry service along the sea will make travelling a lot easier and quicker for citizens. The commute will save a huge amount of time since it will also ferry cars by sea route, which will further help ease road traffic," said Kshitij Thakur.
While from MMB delegation, Administrative Officer Pradeep Badhiye, Engineers Kalyan Chhoriya, Sudhir Dereray, and Chavan were present, from the BVA delegation, MLA Rajesh Patil, Former Mayors Narayan Mankar and Pravin Shetty, coordinators Rushit Dave and Prakash Vanmali were also part of the meeting.

Earlier, BVA had claimed Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed officials to look into BVA's demand to implement as many as 25 projects in the Vasai region in the Palghar district.
We had given a list of demands keeping in mind the upcoming monsoon season. All the other projects are aimed to ensure that citizens of the taluka can seamlessly commute from one end to the other. We would appreciate if the demands are executed at the earliest, Hitendra Thakur had said.
Thakur's MLA son Kshitij Thakur said these projects will facilitate seamless transport and motivate last-mile connectivity in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
The projects include the widening and deepening of the Navghar Creek which will pave the way for a proposed ro-ro service in Thane, Bhayandar and Naigaon, besides rail overbridges, east-west connecting bridges and building flyovers.
