Sanjay Raut, leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday for prioritising Lord Ram campaigning over tackling critical issues such as development, inflation, and job creation.
Raut added that, while PM Modi is scheduled to visit the Ram temple in Ayodhya and hold a roadshow, he will avoid discussing sensitive issues such as the Pulwama attack and subsequent terrorist attacks.
Despite the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections 2024 and worries about development and security, Raut emphasised PM Modi's priority on temple visits rather than addressing serious national issues.
Referring to a recent attack in Jammu & Kashmir in which a soldier was killed, Raut criticised PM Modi for failing to address such incidents during his temple visits.
Raut's remarks come during the ongoing election campaign, with Prime Minister Modi set to visit numerous temples ahead of the third phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
"Modi will go to Dwarka, Mathura and Ayodhya. He will go to every temple but won't talk about development, inflation and jobs. He will not talk about why the (2019) Pulwama attack took place," the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader said commenting on PM Modi's Ayodhya rally ahead of Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
"Yesterday, in broad daylight, our soldiers were attacked and killed. He will not talk about this in Ayodhya. (He will) just seek votes in the name of Lord Ram," Raut said.
Sanjay Raut mocks BJP's Smriti Irani, predicts defeat to Rahul Gandhi's aide in Amethi
Sanjay Raut, the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader, took a go at the BJP's Amethi candidate Smriti Irani on Saturday, expressing "pity" for her as she is set to lose to Rahul Gandhi's personal assistant, according to ANI.
During a news conference, Raut said, "I feel sorry for Smriti Irani because she will now lose to Rahul Gandhi's PA..."This looks to be a purposeful decision. KL Sharma is a dedicated Congress party member who has worked alongside Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi in Amethi for many years, according to ANI.
Raut highlighted that individuals associated with the Gandhi family have previously contested Amethi. "Several people close to the Gandhi family have contested from Amethi before...Why is the BJP so bothered?... From RK Dhawan to many others, numerous candidates have contested from Amethi. Why does the BJP have an objection to this? They should focus on their own elections," Raut stated, as per ANI.
