The constituent parties in the Opposition INDIA alliance had earlier on Friday announced that they have decided to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha polls together "as far as possible". "We, the INDIA parties, hereby resolve to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections together as far as possible. Seat-sharing arrangements in different states will be initiated immediately and concluded at the earliest in a collaborative spirit of give-and-take," said the resolution passed in the third meeting of the bloc.

The resolution also mentioned that parties will organize public rallies across India on issues of public concern and importance and that they will be coordinating among themselves on political communication and media strategies. Their campaign is based on the theme ‘Judega Bharat, Jiteega Bharat' (India will unite, India will win) across languages.

On Friday, the third formal meeting of the Opposition bloc INDIA alliance began at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Mumbai with the aim of mapping the plan for the upcoming General Assembly elections. The first meeting of the joint Opposition was held in Patna on June 23 and the second meeting in Bengaluru on July 17 and 18. Significantly, this was the first meeting held in a state where no party from the INDIA alliance was in power.
