Slain gangster's family claims they are being framed by a vengeful Gurugram police as the brother-sister duo had accused the cops of murdering Sandeep Gadoli

After nearly a year of accusing the Gurugram police of murdering gangster Sandeep Gadoli, his brother and sister now find themselves on the other end of the fence - accused of murdering the brother of rival gangster Binder Gujjar.

Sandeep's brother Kuldeep was arrested by the Delhi Crime Branch in Dwarka on November 12 on the charge of murdering Gujjar's elder brother Manish Kumar alias Pappu in Gurugram on October 17. Sister Sudesh Kataria has been declared absconding. The police claimed they seized a firearm with live cartridges from Kuldeep.
The siblings have spent the past year fighting for justice for their slain brother, who they claimed was murdered in a fake encounter by the Gurugram police, on the behest of Gujjar. The Gujjar and Gadoli gangs have long been bitter rivals, leading to bloody gang wars in the city. After Sandeep was shot down in an Andheri hotel in February this year, the brother-sister duo moved the Supreme Court, seeking a probe into the cops involved in the shootout. A special investigation team (SIT) has submitted a chargesheet in the case, and the matter is under trial in the Sessions court in Mumbai.

A senior Crime Branch officer supervising the Gadoli case clarified that neither Kuldeep nor Sudesh are witnesses or complainants in the murder case of Sandeep Gadoli, therefore this new development will not have any impact on the trial.
Vendetta
With such a complicated background to the issue, it seems likely that the murder case is driven by vendetta. But whose vendetta? Close relatives of the Gadoli family said that this is not a case of gang rivalry, but that Kuldeep and Sudesh are being framed by a vengeful Gurugram police. "Kuldeep and Sudesh have been framed in this case. They have nothing to do with the murder and it is very evident that the police and Binder family have personal vendetta against them because they have named eight policemen in the murder trial of Sandeep Gadoli," said a relative.
Cop speak
Rubbishing the claims by Gadoli family, Gurugram Police Commissioner Sandeep Khirwar said, "Kuldeep has been arrested by Delhi Crime Branch. We have no ulterior motives to frame anybody in a wrong case. We have clear evidence to nail the accused and many more arrests are awaited."

When asked if this is a case of a gang war flaring up, he replied, "We will wait for the investigation to get over before making any further comment."
DCP (in-charge of west zone with additional charge of Crime) Sumit Kumar informed mid-day, "We have questioned Kuldeep after seeking his custody from Delhi police and he has confessed to his role in the murder case. We have not got Sudesh yet and she has been declared absconding. Kuldeep did have previous criminal records and, as per our information, he was hiding in Nepal before returning to India."
