In the Salman Khan residence firing incident, the Mumbai Crime Branch detained the third suspected person who was continuously in touch with the shooters. Vickey Kumar Gupta and Sagar Kumar Pal were in regular contact with Sagar's brother, Sonu Pal, who resides in Haryana, where both shooters received their training. The Crime Branch officers also took two individuals into custody from Pune who are suspected of selling the guns to the shooters.
Sonu resides in Haryana, and some money was transferred to his family account. The accused were promised Rs 4 lakh each for the firing, and in advance, they received Rs 1 lakh each. Currently, a team is in Gujarat searching for the gun used in the firing. However, before the firing incident, the shooters parked their bike 100 metres away from Salman's Galaxy Apartment. They walked and checked the police presence, and when they saw no police jeep was outside, they used their bike to carry out the firing and escaped.
A police source told mid-day, "The actor was sleeping in his bedroom when he heard the loud noise of the firing. He woke up and summoned his bodyguards to ascertain what had happened. Who then confirmed that it was indeed a firing incident. The police team deployed in the building's parking area also responded."

"Salman reprimanded them about the security loopholes and questioned the absence of the police team during the firing. He expressed frustration about how the shooters managed to fire despite the security measures in place. Salman also noted the absence of the police jeep outside," the source said.
Security upgraded
Following the incident, the security detail of Salman Khan was upgraded, with personnel in the security convoy now equipped with two automatic guns. Mumbai police sources disclosed that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, currently in jail, was involved in the firing through his brother. The police also suspect that the third accused, Sonu, who is Sagar's brother, was in contact with the Bishnoi gang and providing updates on the firing.
The Crime Branch suspects that Sonu was also sharing details on how to escape from the scene and what actions to take next. In the CCTV footage, the police noticed both accused surveying the area around before the firing. They noticed the absence of a police jeep and proceeded to walk towards Salman Khan, parking their bike 100 metres away.
