The sudden rain in the city in the past two days has put a dampener on the wedding plans of many, who were to hold the ceremony on open lawns. The weather department has warned that the rain is also expected over the weekend.
Many weddings have been planned for the weekend as the period after Tulsi Vivah is considered auspicious for marriages. But the unseasonal rain has forced many couples to opt for a closed venue. More rain is expected to fall.
Speaking to mid-day, Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai, Director Jayant Sarkar said, "A light pressure belt has been created in the East Central Arabian Sea and it is coming towards the south west side. Due to this there was rainfall in Mumbai, Thane and nearby areas in the past two days. District-wise forecast says rain is expected across Mumbai, Thane and Palghar areas."
