PM Modi's Mumbai visit: Traffic Police restricts heavy vehicles in suburbs, know what is exempted

The Mumbai Traffic Police on Wednesday issued traffic restrictions in western and eastern suburbs ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Mumbai on January 19.

In a traffic notification, the police said that traffic in western suburbs will be affected on Thursday.

A traffic notification issued by Nisar Tamboli, Additional Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Mumbai said, on January 19, 2023, a public meeting of PM Narendra Modi is organised at MMRDA grounds in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) and a large number of people will come to attend the meeting due to which the traffic movement in western and eastern suburbs will be affected.

The notification said, in order to streamline traffic in western and eastern suburbs, the entry of heavy vehicles shall be banned on January 19, between 12.00 hrs to 21.00 hrs in western and eastern suburbs of the city on temporary basis.

The police said that essential services provider vehicles including vegetables, milk
drinking water, Ambulance, school buses, petrol, diesel and kerosene tankers, government and semi government vehicles and vehicles carrying people for the meeting have been exempted from the restrictions.

"Whatever restrictions had been imposed vide earlier notification pertaining to entry of heavy vehicles in greater Mumbai shall remain the same," the notification said.
