Prime Minister Narendra Modi has created a clear and strong foreign policy sans pressure, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Saturday and also hailed External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for a "strong resolve".

Fadnavis released "Bharat Marg", the Marathi translation of Jaishankar's book "The India Way" in the presence of the Union minister at an event.

He said Jaishankar has mentioned three major elements of foreign policy in the book including the partition of India which made us weak and the Nuclear Policy.

"The other major element in the book is that we were late in launching financial development which began nearly 15 years after China, and naturally they now have an advantage. The third one is the nuclear policy.

"However, without any pressure, Narendra Modi created a clear and strong foreign policy of India after he became the prime minister (in 2014)," Fadnavis said.

He said India now stands strong in the world and the countries that do not want to live under the pressure of Russia or the USA, they have reposed a strong faith in the leadership of PM Modi.

"They all are standing with us. This is the achievement of the foreign policy created by our country," he added.

Fadnavis said Jaishankar is popular amongst the youth after he "delivered answers to the Western media during a war between Russia and Ukraine".

"He also made a concrete stand regarding the oil import with Europe. We have seen a strong resolve in S Jaishankar and I would like to congratulate him along with PM Modi," he added.
