The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a temporary suspension of water supply in parts of the city due to repair work on the Tansa aqueduct. This work aims to strengthen old and dilapidated water lines, thereby improving the overall water supply in the city.
The repair will focus on the main water channels Tansa (East) and Tansa (West), each with a diameter of 1,450 mm. The work is scheduled to begin at the Race Course in the G South section at 9:00 pm on Thursday, June 6, 2024, and will continue for 17 hours and 15 minutes, concluding at 3:00 pm on Friday, June 7, 2024.
"The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is in the process of strengthening old and dilapidated water lines to improve water supply in the city division. Under this, the repair work of the main water channels Tansa (East) and Tansa (West) of 1,450 diameters each will be taken up at the Race Course in the 'G South' section. Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 9 pm. The repair work will continue for a total of 17 hours and 15 minutes from 45 o'clock to 03.00 pm on Friday, June 07, 2024," said BMC in a statement.
During the revision period from 09.45 pm on Thursday, June 6, 2024, to 03.00 pm on Friday, June 7, 2024 (17 hrs 15 mins), water supply will be completely stopped in parts of South Zone, said the statement.

During this period, water supply will be completely stopped in the following areas of the G South Zone:
- Currey Road
- Sakharam Bala Pawar Marg
- Mahadev Palav Marg
- Delisle Road
- BDD Chawl
- Lower Parel
Residents in these areas are advised to use water judiciously during the interruption. The BMC has urged residents to ensure they have an adequate water supply for the duration of the repair work.
The BMC is undertaking these repairs to ensure a more reliable and efficient water supply system in the future. The municipal administration appreciates the cooperation and understanding of the residents during this necessary maintenance period.
