Police arrested four persons in Navi Mumbai on Wednesday for allegedly killing a man in Uttar Pradesh last month, an official said.
The crime branch of the Navi Mumbai Police arrested the accused in Kharghar, he said.
"There was an old dispute between complainant Vakil Ahmed, 45, of Ranigan in UP, and the accused persons over certain issues. As a result, on December 14, 2022, when the complainant's brother Rakhib and his nephew Ashfaque were going to Delhupur market (in UP) on a two-wheeler, the accused persons knocked them down with their car," senior inspector Ravindra Patil of the crime branch said.
After the victims fell down, the accused attacked them with iron rods and other weapons. They also opened fire on the duo, in which they received injuries. The attackers then fled from the spot, he said.

In order to evade their arrest, the accused were hiding in Gujarat for some time before coming to Navi Mumbai, he said.
"Based on some technical intelligence, the police came to know that the accused were hiding in Kharghar. Swinging into action, the police pinned them down before they could escape from the spot," the official said.
The accused have been since handed over to the UP Police and they have been taken to their home state, he said.
An offence was registered against them under murder and other charges in UP, he added.
