Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik has alleged that the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has used a ‘family friend' of Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede as panch (witness) in three different raids. Malik claimed that Fletcher Patel has relations with Wankhede.

Malik has held two press conferences in which he has accused NCB of wrongdoings during the cruise raid in which Shah Ruk Khan's son and others have been arrested. On Saturday, in a series of tweets, he released a picture of Patel with Wankhede asking, "How can a friend of NCB official be allowed to be a panch?"

Malik alleged that Patel was used as a panch in seizures that occurred on November 25, 2020, December 9, 2020 and January 2, 2021. In response, Fletcher accepted having friendly relations with Wankhede, but expressed concern over Malik's intention of questioning the integrity of NCB. "I am serving the nation by helping NCB to end drug menace. Why does Malik have a problem with that?" he asked.
