Another CCTV footage shows the man touching the woman
A 30-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for touching his private parts in front of a house help inside the lift of a residential building in Taloja. The accused also touched the woman inappropriately. The incident was caught on CCTV cameras and came to light after another resident of the building learnt about it and informed Navi Mumbai police.
The incident took place on Friday morning when the woman was heading to a flat in Marble Arch, Taloja to work. The accused, who was in the lift with her, kept touching his private parts from the ground floor till the 12th floor. "The incident occurred at 9.51 am, following which the 33-year-old woman went to work. Later that day, when the woman was leaving the building around 10.43 am the man touched the woman in front of the lift," said a cop from Taloja police station.
The entire incident was caught on CCTV cameras. The woman, however, did not register a complaint. Advocate Javed Khan, who owns a flat in the same building, got to know about the incident on Sunday and informed the Navi Mumbai police. Taking cognisance, cops went to the building to get details.

"When the manager of the building told me about the incident, I immediately checked the footage. I assume the woman did not tell anyone about it fearing backlash from residents," said Khan, adding, "But after my intimidation, cops contacted her, registered a complaint and assured of action."

The cops arrested the accused from the building on Sunday night. DCP (Zone 2) Pankaj Dahane said, "The accused is 30-years old and lives in a rented flat on the 12th floor of the building along with his brother. We booked him under Sections 354 (outraging modesty of a woman), and 509 (act intended to insult modesty of a woman) of the IPC." During interrogation, police officers have learnt that the accused is mentally ill and is under treatment at Thane Mental Hospital.
