A 25-year-old man preparing for the MPSC (Maharashtra Public Service Commission) exams committed suicide by hanging himself in a building based in Kalamboli, in Navi Mumbai on Wednesday evening.
The Kalamboli police, investigating the case, have found that the victim was having an affair with a woman police constable based with Navi Mumbai commissionerate and, doubting her character, he took the extreme step.
According to the police, the victim, identified as Chandrakant Fingre (25) is from Palghar, and was staying at a government hostel in Panvel, where he was preparing for his MPSC exams. The woman, in her early twenties, was also from Palghar and used to reside in a rented flat in Kalamboli, along with another woman constable.
"The victim and, the woman police constable, are from a tribal village in Palghar and are classmates. They were in relationship from their school time, and had decided to get married. Both the families also knew about the relationship," informed K. Popere, Senior Police Inspector, Kalamboli police station.
On Wednesday evening, at around 6 pm, Chandrakant visited the Kalamboli residence of the constable. After having some oral discussion and a dispute, he left the place in anger. "The constable resides on the third floor. The neighbours saw Chandrakant hanging on the iron rod of the staircase with the help of a nylon rope. They then informed the constable and he was shifted to a private hospital, where the doctor declared him dead," said a senior police officer from Kalamboli police station.
An accidental death case has been register at the Kalamboli police station, which is further investigating the matter.
Suicide note
The Kalamboli police have also found a suicide note from the spot. "We have found a suicide note allegedly written by Chandrakant in which he states that he committed suicide on his own and doesn't blames anyone. On the basis of the same, we have registered an ADR," said Popere.
"Chandrakant started doubting the character of the constable and took the extreme step after an argument between the two. Secondly, he was feeling low as the constable whom he was going to marry was already on job, while he was still appearing for exams with no job in hand," added Popere.
