After witnessing a record drop in test positivity rate (TPR) on December 1 at 0.28 per cent, Mumbai saw a significant rise in the TPR and fresh COVID-19 cases on Thursday. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, there were 228 new cases along with one death, and the TPR was 0.63 per cent. The deceased was above 60 years of age, said the BMC report.]
The doubling rate significantly improved and was 3,084 days on Thursday. The city's recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent, as 216 people were discharged after full recovery.
The state saw a marginal rise in new cases and drop in COVID-19 fatalities on Thursday. As per the state health department report, 796 cases were reported along with 24 deaths.
The state's case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 952 people were discharged after full recovery. The state has 7,209 active cases.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) saw a marginal rise in new cases. As per the state report, 349 cases were reported in the MMR, including the ones in Mumbai.
After Mumbai, Vasai-Virar reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR at 28, followed by Navi Mumbai, which reported 22 cases. While Kalyan-Dombivili saw 18 cases, Thane Municipal Corporation reported 21 cases. Raigad saw five cases and Panvel nine.
The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered 13 deaths. Raigad witnessed 12 deaths, highest in the MMR. Vasai-Virar reported one death.
