Mumbai’s daily Covid-19 cases remain steady at over 3,000

While the state reported a dip in new cases, there was a rise in the number of deaths

Covid-19 daily figure in the city remained steady at over 3,000 on Friday. At least 3,039 new cases were reported on Friday with 71 deaths. The good news was the significant improvement in the doubling rate which is now 138 days.

The current recovery rate of the city is 90 per cent and there are around 50,000 active cases. Out of the 71 Covid-19 deaths in the city, 43 patients had comorbidities, 49 deaths were above 60-years and 19 deaths were in the age group of 40-60 years.

The city reported the highest number of cases - 11,163 on April 4, after which a declining trend has started.

In the state, there was a dip as 54,022 new cases were reported on Friday. A total of 898 deaths were reported across the state.

The case fatality rate is 1.49 per cent. As many as 37,386 patients have recovered in the state and were discharged on Friday. There are around 6.5 lakh people presently down with Covid-19 in the state.

The recovery rate is constant at 85.36 per cent.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) reported a marginal drop in new cases. The MMR reported 8,335 cases on Friday, including the ones reported in Mumbai. Apart from Mumbai, Raigad with 846 and Vasai-Virar with 999 reported the maximum new cases in MMR. Thane recorded 458 cases, Navi Mumbai 296 and Kalyan-Dombivli 727.

MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered 78 deaths, out of which 9 deaths were reported in Thane, 9 in Raigad, 10 in Navi Mumbai, 13 in Panvel.
