Mumbai’s Covid-19 TPR sees record low at 2.10 per cent

As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 696 new cases were reported across Mumbai on Saturday. The TPR was 2.10 per cent. This is the first time in the second wave that the TPR has dipped below 3 per cent.

Mumbai has recorded the lowest test positivity rate (TPR) in the second wave on Saturday. The city has also registered a significant dip in both new cases and Covid-19 fatalities.

As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 696 new cases were reported across Mumbai on Saturday. The TPR was 2.10 per cent. This is the first time in the second wave that the TPR has dipped below 3 per cent.

The city reported the highest number of cases - 11,163 on April 4 and then the declining trend started. The doubling rate, on Saturday, dipped marginally as compared to Friday. It is now 720 days. On Friday, the doubling rate was at 734 days.

The Covid-19 fatalities across Mumbai was 13. Of these, nine had comorbidities. Ten deaths were in the age group of 60 and above while one death was reported in the 40-60 age group.

Meanwhile, Saturday onwards, the BMC has allowed citizens between 30 and 44 age group to take a jab at their nearest public vaccination centres. About 1,778 beneficiaries were inoculated. This will continue from Monday to Wednesday on walk-in basis. No vaccination will be held on Sunday.
