The public toilet in Mulund where Bhagyashree Narle killed herself
Harassed and tortured by her husband, a 29-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide in a public toilet in Mulund West in the last week of January. The woman, identified as Bhagyashree Narle, wrote a suicide note on her thigh. Mulund police are on the hunt for the husband.
Narle's parents started looking for her on January 28 in Ganesh pada as she did not return from the toilet even after one hour. One of the residents told them that they had spotted her at the public toilet an hour ago. Residents checked the toilet, bolted from inside, and found Narle hanging from a pipe with her dupatta.
"We took her to MT Agarwal Hospital where she was declared dead by doctors. Then we sent the body for a post-mortem to Rajawadi hospital," said an officer from Mulund police station.
While Mulund police were in the process to register an Accidental Death Report (ADR), doctors from the Rajawadi post-mortem centre made a startling discovery. "There were two lines on her thigh wherein Narle had written in red ink that she is committing suicide because of the torture at the hands of her husband. We immediately started the process to register a case against the husband," said an officer from Mulund police.

Narle was married to a Satara-based man seven years ago. She gave birth to a son, who lives with his father. According to the family, Narle was upset as her husband was not letting her son live with her. Also, her husband was allegedly torturing and harassing her through messages.
"He threatened her saying he will kill her and her family. That was the trigger that led to her death," said another officer. "We have registered an offence against the husband under Section 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 306 (abetment of suicide)," the officer added.
