A 23-year-old woman died in a hit-and-run case at Seawoods on Sunday night. The woman's partner suspects it could be murder as the car allegedly followed their two-wheeler for a while and dashed into them at a secluded place. NRI Sagari police has registered an offence. The incident took place when Sanjog Gore, 26, and his partner Priyanka Hadmani, residents of Turbhe, had gone out to buy a few things for their two-month-old baby. While returning, Gore took Palm Beach Road and had just reached Akshar Chowk Signal when a speeding car rammed into their scooty and fled from the spot.

"It was around 1.15 am when the car hit my scooty from the back. Priyanka fell on the road while I got dragged along with the scooty. I tried to check the number plate of the car but could not figure it out in the dark. It was a white car with a yellow (tourist vehicle) number plate" Gore said. Hadmani, who was bleeding from her nose and ears, was rushed to Terna Hospital in Nerul where she was declared dead on arrival.

"I believe the car was following us. It waited after knocking us off, somebody peeped out of tinted glass windows. It could be a hit-and-run case or even a murder plot," said Gore, who is currently undergoing treatment at Vashi NMMC Hospital for fracture on his leg. An FIR has been registered with NRI Sagari Police station under various sections of the IPC and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. Ravindra Patil, senior inspector of NRI Sagari police station, said, "We are checking CCTV footage across the road to find out the vehicle registration number. We believe it's a case of hit-and-run, but we won't leave out any angle during investigation".
