A woman has filed a domestic violence case against her police officer husband, making serious allegations. She claims that he befriends women on social media, exchanges numbers, engages in explicit chats, and then blackmails them with recorded evidence for sexual favours. The woman stated, "My husband not only shares screenshots but also a video of himself watching pornography at Nehrunagar police station restroom, while other officers make derogatory comments about the woman in the video."
Met on Facebook Live
The complainant is a 35-year-old with a 12-year-old daughter. The accused, identified as Praful Chandrkaant Chavan, 28, is a sub-inspector with the Maharashtra Police, and they met on Facebook during the COVID lockdown. "He expressed a desire to marry me and I had cautioned him to consider his decision carefully. I eventually agreed and divorced my first husband officially in June 2021 before marrying Praful in Ichalkaranji in July 2021. Following our marriage, I relocated to Nehru Nagar," said the wife.
"Facing mistreatment from his family, I discovered Praful's extramarital affairs and explicit chats with other women. Despite filing a complaint, no action has been taken. I then sent evidence to the Mumbai police commissioner, demanding Praful's expulsion and transfer of the case for impartial investigation." Senior police inspector Yusuf Saudagar, Nehru Nagar police station, said, "A case of domestic violence has been registered against the husband. For fare investigation, the case has been transferred to Chunabhatti Police Station."

Relationship changed after marriage
The husband, sub-inspector, Praful Chavan said, "We connected on Facebook and gradually built a relationship, even discussing personal matters with each other over the phone. Initially, when we decided to marry, my mother was overjoyed, considering it a noble decision to marry a divorced woman. However, after marriage, her behaviour changed drastically. She began alienating me from my family and refused to support my mother financially, despite the hardships my mother had endured while raising me."
"My efforts to rebuild our family's dilapidated village house were met with resistance from her. She opposed any assistance I offered to my mother or other family members," he added. He said, "I married a woman older than me based on my mother's advice. However, post-marriage, she distanced me from my family. In January, realising my mistake, I opted for a divorce, but she filed a false case, accusing retaliation." "I possess videos of her verbally abusing my mother and other family members, but I find myself at a loss regarding whom to seek assistance from," he added.
