Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, on Tuesday, stated that Mumbai has reported a slight increase in Dengue cases in recent weeks. While the rise in cases is a cause for concern, it is essential to note that this increase can be partially attributed to an expansion in reporting units, they said.
According to the BMC data, in 2023, the number of reporting units increased significantly, surging from 22 to 880. These units include BMC dispensaries, BMC Hospitals, HBT clinics, additional private labs, and private hospitals. This expanded reporting network has enabled health officials to identify and report cases more comprehensively, shedding light on the actual disease burden within the city.
