Mumbai: Western Railway to observe night block on weekend, Jan 17

The Western Railway (WR) on Friday said that there will be no day block on Sunday. The WR said, on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday i.e. on January 14/15, 2023, a major block will be taken for the conversion of Route Relay Interlocking (RRI) panel to Electronic Interlocking (EI) panel at Santacruz station. The block will be taken on up and down slow lines from 22.00 hrs to 04.00 hrs, on up and down fast lines from 00.35 hrs to 04.35 hrs and on the 5th line from 23.00 hrs to 04.00 hrs.

"There will be no block in day time on the WR suburban section on Sunday, January 15, 2023," the WR said.

In a press release the WR said, during the block, the down slow line trains will be operated on down harbour line between Bandra and Andheri stations and some Churchgate-Borivli slow trains will run up to Goregaon station.

It said, similarly, all up slow line trains will be operated on up harbour line between Andheri and Bandra stations and some up slow line trains will run fast between Andheri-Bandra-Dadar-Mumbai Central.

Trains being operated on up and down fast lines will run as per their scheduled path. Due to the block, some up and down trains will remain cancelled and partially cancelled. The list of these trains will be available at all stations of the suburban section, it said in a press release.

To carry out maintenance work of tracks, signaling and overhead equipment, a Jumbo Block of Four hours will be taken on up and down slow lines from 00.30 hrs to 04.30 hrs between Vasai Road and Virar stations on the night of Tuesday, January 17, 2023.

During the block period some down slow line trains will be operated on down fast line between Vasai Road and Virar stations.
