Mumbai: Western Railway deputes officials to penalise maskless people; over Rs 1L collected as fine in a week

From April 17 to April 25, total 701 persons were fined for not wearing mask in railway station premises and a fine of Rs 1,62,500 was collected.

Following the 'Break the Chain' directives from Maharashtra government, the Western Railway deputed officials to impose fine on passengers not wearing mask in the railway station premises and in the trains.

On April 25, 78 persons were fined and Rs 17,300 was collected as fine.

From April 17 to April 25, total 701 persons were fined for not wearing mask in railway station premises and a fine of Rs 1,62,500 was collected.

"Western Railway appeals to the passengers to wear a face mask all the time during travelling by train for safety of themselves and others from COVID-19," said chief public relations officer Sumit Thakur.
