No sufficient rain over lakes and catchment areas?
As Mumbai continues to receive heavy downpour, two lakes in the city, Vihar and Tansa, overflowed on Wednesday after reaching their full capacity. So far, three out of the seven lakes that supply water to Mumbai have overflowed, but the Mumbai civic body has said that the 10 percent water cut imposed from July 1 will continue unless the overall water stock in all the seven lakes supplying water to Mumbai touches at least 70 percent. According to the lake level report shared by BMC, as of July 27, 6 am, the total useful/potable content of all seven lakes supplying water to the city has reached only 61.58 percent. Last year during this time, the percentage of useful content in all seven lakes together was 88.25 percent.
