In their investigation into the forged medical reports case, the Kandivali police summoned Dr Pratima Patil, the Chief Medical Officer of Shatabdi Hospital, on Monday.

Dr Patil was asked to furnish hospital records and CCTV footage to determine the scope of false medical reports generated by the apprehended suspects and their accomplices. During interrogations, Vasu and Babu the detained individuals, admitted to creating fraudulent medical reports.

"Between November to January 2023, my family and I faced a harrowing ordeal," shared Kasim Manihar, a scrap businessman, he narrated, "Seven to eight assailants targeted us, filing a deceptive complaint at Kandivali police station, supported by fabricated medical reports. Despite filing a counter-complaint, the police registered an FIR against us, leading to the arrest of my elder son and me, based on false allegations."

Detailing the unjust legal proceedings, Manihar disclosed, "Playing with my grandson outside my residence in KD compound, I faced verbal and physical assault amid attempts to de-escalate the situation. The assailants, allegedly influenced by a local person, escalated the confrontation."

"Following my complaint on January 14, the police detained me, arrested my elder son, and presented us in court the next day, overlooking CCTV footage supporting our side."

Aware of the wider issue, Manihar urged the police to scrutinise false medical reports' origins and hold those responsible accountable.

On further investigation, additional names of hospital staff, doctors, security personnel, and outsider agents have surfaced. Each implicated individual will undergo separate interrogations, and if concrete evidence is found, appropriate action will be taken," said an officer from the Kandivali police station. "The investigation uncovered discrepancies in reports, revealing that Babu Sayyed and Vasu Thombre, accused of the misconduct, added extra details to patient records. They evaded suspicion due to their status as staff members," said another officer.
