A politician, a former mayor and a Marathi celebrity were among those who passed Masters of Arts (MA) course from Mumbai University's Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) on Saturday.
IDOL declared its results on Saturday evening.
Among the known personalities who passed the exam were MLA from Vasai, Vivek Pandit, former mayor of Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) Pravin Shetty, Siddhivinayak Mandir Trust Chairman Aadesh Bandekar and Marathi actress Madhura Velankar.
While 64-year-old Pandit scored 94 percent in MA part II Political Science, Bandekar and Shetty scored 88.5 percent and 76 percent, respectively in MA part I of the same subject. Marathi actress Velankar has scored 82 percent in MA part I in Maratha subject.

A total of 2,894 candidates cleared MA part II, out of which 2,240 have passed in first class. Total 3,231 students had appeared for the exam.
Dr. Prakash Mahanwar, Director IDOL, said, "Every year we have known personalities and dignitaries from different sectors such as sports, politics, administration among those appearing for exams through IDOL, as they are otherwise busy to complete the courses in a regular college. These candidates present great examples for other students."
