Mumbai: UN bodies choose BEST for keynote talk on Covid-19 management

In December 2020, the ILO had picked up BEST, the only transport organisation in India and across the globe so far, for best health and wellness approach for its 34,000 employees, while handling the pandemic.

A joint event by the United Nations Development Programme, Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS, International Labour Organisation (ILO) and Global Network of People living with AIDS, and Global fund picked up Mumbai's BEST for a global keynote talk focussed on workplaces on Labour Day on how they ably managed tuberculosis, HIV and Covid-19.

"BEST undertaking has been on its forefront with buses running throughout the lockdown and power connections continuing uninterrupted. We have maintained the Covid-19 positive patients under control by a strict mechanism due to established practices . The set template basically involves awareness, building immunity, contact tracing and treatment and a tele-monitoring severity score system where doctors monitor the health of Covid-19 patients through five minutes calls periodically, having a positive impact on patients," said BEST Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Anilkumar Singal, who gave a presentation.
