At least two persons, including a 10-year-old boy, were killed after a portion of the slab and parapet of a five-storey under-construction building collapsed in Mumbai's Vikhroli on Sunday night, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said on Monday.
The incident took place at Kailas Business Park, near TATA power House, in Vikhroli West area at 11.10 pm on Sunday. Notably, heavy rains lashed parts of Mumbai on Sunday night.
When the fire brigade personnel reached the spot after receiving a call, they found some portion of the parapet and slab had fallen, while some parts of the under-construction building in Vikhroli were hanging precariously, said the civic body.
"Upon arriving at the scene of the incident, it was learned from members of the public that a portion of the parapet (iron beam) and slab (floor status could not be ascertained) had fallen, with some sections hanging precariously from a five-story building under construction. The dangerously hanging portions of the structure were removed by firefighters using rescue tools," the BMC stated.

Before the arrival of the fire brigade, some locals had rushed a 38-old-man and the boy to the Rajawadi Hospital where doctors declared them brought dead, the civic body said.
The deceased were identified as Nagesh Ramchandra Reddy (38) and Rohit Reddy (10).
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) declared the onset of the southwest monsoon over Mumbai on Sunday, two days before the normal schedule.
Many parts of the city, including Vikhroli, witnessed water-logging after heavy rains on Sunday.
Earlier on June 5, a person died and another one was injured when a large portion of the slab of a single-storey structure collapsed in Mahim area.
The MFB, who responded to the call about the incident, said that it happened on June 5 at Samarth Industrial Estate on Dilip Gupte Marg near Bombay Scottish School in Mahim.
The officials said that Mumbai house collapse incident happened around 5.31 pm when the large slab of the first floor of a vacated ground plus one-floor Comteck building collapsed.
The MFB officials added that the collapse happened during debris removal by a private contractor and that one worker was trapped under the slab. The trapped worker was rescued by firemen using rescue tools and was administered first aid before he was taken to Sion Hospital in an ambulance.
"A large slab of the first floor of the ground plus the upper one floored vacated Comteck building had collapsed. During the removal of debris on the first floor by a private contractor, one worker was trapped under the slab portion," said MFB officials.
"The trapped person was rescued from the debris by firemen using rescue tools, rendered first aid and taken to Sion Hospital in 108 Ambulance. Information received from the public that one injured person was taken to Hinduja Hospital in a private vehicle before the arrival of the fire brigade," the officials added.
Prior to the arrival of the fire brigade, it was reported that another injured person was taken to Hinduja Hospital by private vehicle. According to Dr Swapnil (MO) at Hinduja Hospital, the injured person took a DAMA discharge and was later admitted to Sion Hospital.
At Sion Hospital, an on-duty AMO confirmed that two injured persons were reported. Chandrika Yadav, a 32-year-old male, is in stable condition. Unfortunately, a 35-year-old male, whose identity is unknown, was declared dead on arrival by Dr Mayur Patil.
