Mumbai’s TPR falls below 1 per cent, but Covid-19 cases rise

Mumbai's test positivity rate (TPR) dipped below 1 at 0.93 per cent on Tuesday as daily cases saw a marginal rise. But the city's Covid-19 fatalities saw a dip. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 293 new cases were reported on Tuesday along with five deaths.

Of the five deceased, three had comorbidities and all the deceased were above 60 years of age. The doubling rate improved to 1,368 days on Tuesday. The city's recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 329 people recovered and were discharged on Tuesday.

In the state, the new cases saw a significant rise as they rose above 1000. The state's Covid-19 fatalities also saw a significant rise. As per the state health department report, 1,201 cases were reported along with 32 deaths.

The state's case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 1,370 recovered and got discharged on Tuesday. Currently the state has 22,981 active cases.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also saw a marginal rise in new cases. As per the state report, 495 cases were reported in the MMR including cases from Mumbai.

Apart from Mumbai, Kalyan-Dombivli reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR with 34 new cases. It was followed by Navi Mumbai with 33 cases each. While Panvel saw 20 cases each, Raigad had 21 cases, Vasai-Virar witnessed 24 cases.

MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered four deaths. While Panvel registered three deaths, highest in MMR after Mumbai, Raigad saw one death.
