Mumbai’s TPR falls below 1 per cent again, new Covid-19 cases also drop

Mumbai's test positivity rate (TPR) dipped below 1 per cent along with significant dip in new daily cases on Sunday. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 408 new cases were reported on Sunday while the TPR was 0.99%. There were six deaths.

All the six deceased had comorbidities. While one of the deceased was in the age group of 40 years-60 years, the other five were above 60 years of age.

The doubling rate dipped to 1,328 days on Sunday. The city's recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 531 people recovered and were discharged on Sunday.

In the state also, the new cases saw a significant drop along with COVID-19 fatalities. As per the state health department report, 1,410 cases were reported along with 18 deaths across the state.

The state's case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 percent as 1,520 recovered and got discharged on Sunday. Currently the state has 23,894 active cases.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also saw a marginal fall in new cases.

As per the state report, 702 cases were reported in the MMR including cases from Mumbai.

Apart from Mumbai, Thane Municipal Corporation reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR with 48 new cases. It was followed by Panvel with 43 cases each. While Vasai-Virar saw 42 cases each, Raigad had 22 cases, Kalyan-Dombivli witnessed 38 cases.

MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered three deaths. While Thane Municipal Corporation saw two deaths, Navi Mumbai reported one death.
