Three Bangladeshi nationals were arrested for allegedly living illegally in the Vikhroli Park Site area of Mumbai, police said, reported news agency ANI.
The arrests were made based on information that some Bangladeshi nationals were living illegally near the Lower Depot in the Park Site area of Vikhroli. As soon as the information was received, the police laid a trap in the area two days ago and took all three into custody, reported ANI.
The three accused have been identified as Yusuf Sofan (58), Mominullah Sheikh (52) and Umedullah Noorulhaq (69), police said, reported ANI.
According to the police, Yusuf had come to India a few years ago and his visa expired in 2020. Similarly, Sheikh was also living illegally, while the investigation revealed Noorulhaq had infiltrated India 25 years ago and since then he has been living illegally in Mumbai, reported ANI.

The police suspect that there is a possibility of a large number of Bangladeshi nationals living here and are investigating the matter. Further information is awaited.
In another case, a 37-year-old Afghanistan national was arrested for allegedly staying illegally in India for the past 17 years, a Mumbai Crime Branch official said on Thursday, reported PTI.
He was using a fictitious name and was involved in making fraudulent documents, the official said.
"The man was held from Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Nagar in Wadala on a tip off by a team of Unit V of the Crime Branch on Wednesday. During interrogation, he identified himself as Zahir Ali Khan and produced his PAN card and driving licence. With the help of technical analysis, it was ascertained he was an Afghanistan national," the official said, reported PTI.
"We recovered his Afghan passport, citizenship card and other relevant documents. A case was registered against him at RAK Marg police station. Further probe is underway," he added, reported PTI.
Meanwhile, police have arrested four persons for allegedly running a prostitution racket from a Navi Mumbai lodge and rescued three women from there, an official said on Saturday.
The Anti Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) of Navi Mumbai raided the premises of Raj Inn Lodging and Boarding at Shiravane in the Nerul area on Thursday after sending a decoy customer, reported PTI.
