Amid the lack of adequate vaccine stock, vaccinations at civic and state government centres will be closed on Wednesday. Only 58 centres were open on Tuesday. Private centres will be open for paid vaccination.
This will be the third time since June 21, when vaccination for the 18-44-year-olds started at public centres, that they will be closed for vaccination. The centres were closed on July 1 and 9. In addition, limited centres were open for a limited time on four separate days.
The first that the BMC struggled with the drive was on June 25. Due to the delayed arrival of the vaccine, it could run centres only from 2 pm to 5 pm. This situation arose again on July 6 and 8.
"We are waiting for the fresh stock. Vaccination will be resumed once vaccine stocks become available. The BMC will give information about it," said a civic officer.
