Mumbai sees 757 new Covid-19 cases, zero deaths

Mumbai's test positivity rate (TPR) along with daily cases saw a significant jump for the fifth consecutive day as more than 700 daily cases were reported. Due to the surge, the state's tally rose to 1,485 cases on Saturday.

According to the BMC, the city saw 757 new cases and the TPR was 1.78 per cent. The last time the city had such high numbers (789) was on June 24. Mumbai, however, registered zero deaths. It is the sixth time in December that the city has had no deaths. Earlier this month, there were zero deaths on December 11, December 15, December 18, December 20 and December 22.

The city's recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 280 people recovered and were discharged on Saturday. The doubling rate of the city continued to see a drop and was 1,338 days on Saturday. As per the state health department report, 1,485 cases were logged with 12 deaths reported across the state.
