At 479, Mumbai saw a marginal rise in new Covid-19 cases along with the test positivity rate on Sunday. As per a report of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the virus claimed five lives. The TPR stood at 1.22 per cent. Across Maharashtra, 3,206 fresh cases reported with 36 more fatalities. Across the city, 481 patients recovered during the day and were discharged.
While four of the deceased had comorbidities, all five of them were in the age of above 60 years of age. Mumbai's TPR dipped below 1 per cent, a first in the second wave on July 29. On August 19, the city recorded the second wave's lowest TPR at 0.53 per cent after which the graph has been gradually going up.
It was on August 16 that the numbers fell below 200 and recorded the second wave's lowest daily cases. The doubling rate improved to 1,208 days on Sunday. The city's recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 481 people recovered and were discharged on Sunday. The state's Covid-19 cases also saw a marginal drop on Sunday. As per the state health department report, 3206 new cases were reported and there was a slight drop in daily deaths, which stood at 36.
The state's case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent. A total of 3,292 patients recovered and got discharged during the day. Currently, the state has 37,860 active cases. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) saw a marginal dip in numbers on Sunday. As per a state government report, 990 cases were reported in the MMR region including cases from Mumbai.
Apart from Mumbai, Raigad reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR region with 92 new cases. It was followed by Kalyan-Dombivili with 85 cases. While Navi Mumbai saw 76 cases, Thane reported 53 cases and Mira-Bhayandar had 36 cases. Vasai-Virar had 43 cases and Panvel reported 64 cases. MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered two Covid-19 fatalities on Sunday. Vasai-Virar and Navi Mumbai witnessed one death each.
