The lights at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue at the park
As part of its beautification, the whole of Shivaji Park was illuminated with new additional lightings, and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray unveiled the LED projector lights put up around the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on Thursday.
The multi-coloured changing LED projector lights will highlight various facets of the statue. The entire park has been illuminated with about 42 LED multi-colour globe lights along the pathway. The lights will be operated online.
The colour changing projector lights will also highlight the waterfall and trees near the Bengal Club. There are also 25 decorative bollards along the pathway and LED lights to highlight the facade of the Meenatai Thackeray statue, Shiv-Rajyabhishek murals and deepstambh. All the entrance gates of the park will have 32 uplights.

The lights and equipment have been imported from Italy and have 5 years warranty. The project's cost includes annual maintenance for 5 years which is Rs 1.25 crore. This has been done through the MLC fund of Uddhav Thackeray.
The 100-year-old pyau at Shivaji Park is also being restored to provide drinking water for those who come to play/exercise. The pyau will supply RO filtered cold water 24x7 and the cost of its restoration is Rs 20 lakh. It will be borne by the BMC.
