Accused Omkarnath Pandey dressed as a lawyer

The Dindoshi court on Tuesday sentenced a 60-year-old security guard to five years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 8,000 for sneaking into a courtroom dressed as a lawyer during the hearing of a case early last year and flinging a flute at the judge.

On January 2 last year accused Omkarnath Pandey suddenly appeared in the courtroom and said, "I am Lord Krishna," and flung a flute at the judge. He was arrested. Pandey was one of the key witnesses in the case of his brother Ashok Pandey's death.

The case was on trial in the Dindoshi Sessions Court presided by judge S U Baghele. As Pandey had not been appearing for the hearings, summons were issued against him and he was asked to be present before the court on January 2.

While another case was being heard in the courtroom, he appeared dressed as a lawyer and said, "I am Lord Krishna. I have been wronged and those who wronged me are present in the court." He then threw the flute towards the judge while removing his coat. No one was injured.

"The lawyers charge a lot of money to fight a case and the court clerk, too, demands money for every document. So, I thought of becoming a lawyer," Pandey said, adding the lawyer's attire was rented.

"The accused has been arrested under sections 332, 353 and 419 of IPC. The 15th Dindoshi sessions court judge sentenced him to five years rigorous imprisonment and fined him R8,000," said Senior Inspector Parkash Bele from Kurar police station.
