After registering a significant jump in test positivity rate along with new cases on Sunday, Mumbai saw zero deaths with a drop in TPR and cases on Monday. This is the fifth time since the beginning of the pandemic and the fourth in December that the city has reported zero deaths. BMC said Mumbai registered 204 fresh infections.
While the lowest TPR of the second wave was registered at 0.28% on December 1, the city's first zero came on October 17. Since then, December 11, 15 and 18 threw up similar data. The city's recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 224 people recovered and were discharged on Monday.
The state saw a significant drop in new cases along with a marginal drop in Covid-19 fatalities. As per the state health department report, 544 cases were reported along with 4 deaths across the state.
The state's case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 percent as 515 recovered and got discharged on Monday. Currently the state has 7,093 active cases. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) too saw a significant drop in new cases. As per the state report, 298 cases were reported in MMR, including cases from Mumbai.
Apart from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai reported the most number of daily cases in the MMR with 24 infections. It was followed by 23 cases recorded by Thane Municipal Corporation. While Panvel saw 6 cases, Vasai-Virar reported 14 cases each, Raigad saw 2 cases and Thane reported 6 cases. MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered two deaths - each in Thane and Raigad.
