Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis directs civic body to acquire 200-odd BMC-owned plots presently with private organisations on adoption basis
Fadnavis has also directed the civic body to acquire the 200-odd plots owned by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) that have presently been given to private organisations on adoption basis. mid-day has the list of these 200-odd plots. The list throws up some interesting names such as Cuffe Parade garden, Colaba Woods, Mai Mangeshkar garden at Shivaji Park, etc.
The BJP received tremendous flak recently after its corporators supported the RG/PG policy along with Shiv Sena in the BMC. They were accused of letting the policy pass but they maintained that they had not voted in support of it. Following this, not only did the CM ask for a review but also the corporators demanded a re-discussion in the general assembly. As of now, the policy is not being implemented and the BMC is in the process of re-acquiring these plots. About 36 have already been served notices.
Some of the others that will be served notices in the future include:
Priyadarshini Park
Cuffe Parade Garden
Colaba Woods
Garden at Bandstand
Amarsons Garden
Mai Mangeshkar Garden, Shivaji Park
Meenatai Thakre Garden, Andheri east
Bhakti Park garden, Wadala
Garden next to Shyam Narayan Thakur school, Kandivali
