Mumbai recorded January's lowest test positivity rate on Wednesday at 10 per cent, along with a marginal drop in new cases. After registering single-digit deaths on Tuesday, the city saw ten Covid fatalities during the day. As per numbers shared by the BMC, the city registered 6,032 fresh infections. Across Maharashtra, daily cases stood at 43,697 with 49 deaths.
Of the ten Coronavirus-related deaths in Mumbai, all were comorbid. While three were in the age group of 40-60, the rest were above 60. Around 84 per cent of those who tested positive on Wednesday were asymptomatic, while 538 patients were hospitalised of which 103 are in oxygen beds. The recovery rate improved to 95 per cent as 18,241 patients were discharged. The doubling rate got better and stood at 66 days.

The state saw a rise in the number of cases as the number of deaths saw a dip on Wednesday. As per the state health department, 43,697 new cases and 49 deaths were reported across Maharashtra. The state's case-fatality rate dipped to 1.93 per cent. A total of 46,591 people were discharged during the day. The state's active case count was 2,64,708.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region registered 12,774 infections. The Thane Municipal Corporation and Navi Mumbai reported 1.091 and 1.255 cases respectively. While Panvel saw 902 cases, Vasai-Virar had 432 cases and Thane city reported 562 new infections. Other than Mumbai, the MMR saw 18 deaths, of which five were reported in Vasai-Virar and four in Raigad. Navi Mumbai reported three deaths and Thane Municipal corporation, Kalyan-Dombivili and Mira-Bhayandar saw two deaths each.
On Wednesday, 214 new Omicron infections were reported in the state of which 31 are from Mumbai.
