Mumbai records double digit deaths for first time in third wave of Covid-19

While Mumbai continued to witness a downward trend in daily cases and the test positivity rate (TPR), it recorded deaths in double digits for the first time in the third wave on Saturday.

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, the city saw 10,661 cases and 11 Covid-19 fatalities. While10 of the Covid fatalities had comorbidities, one of them was in the age group of 40-60; the rest were above the age of 60.

The silver lining is that 84 per cent of the patients who tested positive on Saturday were asymptomatic.

Meanwhile, the state saw a marginal dip in the number of cases and deaths on Saturday as 42,462 new cases and 23 deaths were reported across the state.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region also reported a significant drop, registering 20,924 infections.
