Mumbai Police provide protection to NCB witness Prabhakar Sail in Aryan Khan drugs case

Mumbai Police, on Monday, have provided protection to Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) witness Prabhakar Sail who alleged a payoff between the agency and Shah Rukh Khan's manager in the on-going drugs-on-cruise case.

Sail, on Sunday made sensational claims about an alleged payoff to the extent of Rs 25 crore, Rs 8 crore was supposed to be kept aside for NCB Mumbai's zonal head Sameer Wankhede. A day later, he met a Mumbai Police official seeking protection.

He met Joint Commissioner of Police (crime) Milind Bharambhe, an official said. He did not file any written complaints against anyone but approached police officials for the purpose of his and his family's safety, officials added.

Sail, the 'independent witness', had claimed that Rs 25 crore was demanded by an official of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and other persons, including absconding witness K P Gosavi, to let off Aryan Khan in the cruise drugs case.

He also claimed NCB officials had asked him to sign nine to ten blank papers.

However, a senior NCB official had denied the allegations, terming them as "completely false and malicious".
