Mumbai Police issues traffic diversions for PM Modi's event in BKC, shares list of optional routes

During regulation of traffic on BKC road from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm on Jan 19, optional routes will be available to the commuters, the police said

Mumbai Traffic Police on Wednesday evening issued traffic restrictions ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Mumbai on Thursday. The police, in a traffic notification said, On January 19, 2023, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (MCGM) and MMRDA have organised a program at BKC Bandra (E), Mumbai and a large number of people from Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra are expected to attend the Program. Hence traffic congestion is expected at Western express highway, Eastern express highway and nearby roads.

The notification issued by Nisar Tamboli, Additional Commissioner of Police, Traffic, said, in order to streamline traffic and to avoid inconvenience to people in general, traffic on BKC Road (and side roads of BKC road) from MMRDA junction to MTNL junction will be regulated and controlled.

During regulation of traffic on BKC road from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm on January 19 optional routes will be available to the commuters, the police said in the notification.

The police issued the following list of optional routes for January 19-

- Vehicles from Western express highway, Worli Sea link going through BKC premises towards Kurla shall take road to MMRDA Junction and shall proceed through Dharavi T Junction towards Kurla and Eastern Express Highway.

- Vehicles proceeding from Saint Dnyaneshwar Nagar through BKC premises Income tax junction shall proceed along Guru Nanak Hospital-Jagat Vidya Mandir Junction Kalanagar Junction and through Dharavi Tjunction towards Kurla.

- Vehicles proceeding towards Kurla from Kherwadi area through BKC Premises shall take U turn from Valimiki nagar and shall proceed through Government colony Kalanagar Junction- Dharavi T junction towards Kurla.

- Vehicles from Razzak and Surve Junction through BKC premises towards western express highway, Dharavi and Worli Sea Link shall proceed through CST Road,
University Main gate, Ambedkar Junction- right turn Hansbhugra Junction and shall proceed towards their destination.

- Vehicles proceeding through Eastern express highway from Chunabhatti through BKC connector shall proceed through NSE Junction- Income tax junction- Family Court junction and then through MMRDA Junction to their desired destination.
