Mumbai: No injuries reported in fire at Oshiwara's Aashiyana Tower

A major fire broke out in Aashiyana Tower, a ground-plus-six-storey residential building at Oshiwara, a civic official said. No injuries have been reported in the level 2 fire on Friday morning.

As per the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB), the fire broke out on the first floor of the Aashiyana Building around 7:57 am.

Eight fire engines, eight jumbo water tankers, one BA Van, one Aerial Ladder Platform, 1 assistant divisional fire officer, 1 divisional fire officer, and two 108 ambulances reached the site.

"At least eight fire engines and as many water jetties were engaged in the firefighting operation, and the blaze was doused after over four hours of efforts. The cooling operation is underway at the spot," a civic official said.

A local corporator said a major tragedy was averted as a CNG filling station is located next to the building.

Visuals from the incident earlier in the day had shown huge plumes of smoke rising from the building.
