The Western Railway (WR) Friday announced that there will be no day block on the suburban section of Western Railway on Sunday, July 23, 2023. However, a night block has been scheduled between Vasai Road and Virar stations to carry out maintenance work on tracks, signaling and overhead equipment.

The night block will be in effect from 00.30 hours to 04.00 hours during the intervening night of July 22/23, 2023. This Jumbo Block of three and a half hours will affect both up and down slow lines.

During the block period, all suburban trains on the slow lines will be operated on the fast lines between Vasai Road and Virar stations. As a result of the maintenance work, some suburban trains will remain cancelled during the block.

Passengers have been advised to check with concerned Station Masters for detailed information regarding the affected train services during the block period.

For travelers planning to use the Western Railway suburban section on Sunday, July 23, 2023, it's essential to note that there will be no daytime block, and train services are expected to operate as usual.

According to a Central Railway update, on the down Harbour line from Wadala to Mankhurd section, the suburban traffic has been closed as safety precautionary measure from 2.45 pm.

Despite heavy rains in Mumbai on Friday, railway authorities reported that trains on the Western, Central, and Harbour lines were running normally. However, commuters complained of slight delays in services, with trains running up to 10 to 15 minutes behind schedule.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a weather warning stating that moderate to intense spells of rain were expected at isolated places in Mumbai over the next three to four hours.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) data revealed that the city recorded an average rainfall of 30 mm in the 24 hours ending at 8 am. Despite a warning of heavy to very heavy rains issued for Thursday, the actual rainfall was lower than anticipated.
