43-year-old Prashant Sibal, who was an executive, who served with Tata Motors, committed suicide by jumping off the 15th floor of his residence at Kalpataru Habitat building in Parel. A case of accidental has been registered by the Kalachowky police.
According to Hindustan Times, police sources said the society's members informed the cops following the incident, after which Sibal was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Police recovered a suicide note from Prashant Sibal's bedroom, which said he didn't blame anyone for his decision and recorded the statements of his family members and other residents of Kalpataru Habitat.
Was depression the cause?
Sibal's wife told the police that her husband had been battling depression since April of this year and would remain aloof and locked up in his room all day. Police are also investigating other angles and will also question other employees of Tata Motors for more information.
Deeply saddened
Tata Motors released an official statement in the wake of Prashant Sibal suicide in which they expressed their deepest condolences and stated that the deceased had opted for their voluntary retirement scheme in April. The statement further read that they are cooperating with the authorities who are conducting investigations.
