Mumbai: Yet another pipe burst hits water supply in Eastern suburbs

A water pipeline burst near Anushakti Nagar depot yesterday, affecting supply in some Eastern suburbs like Anushakti Nagar, Mankhurd and Govandi.

According to the disaster management cell, the incident happened around 6.30 pm. Some locals saw water gushing out of the 900 mm diameter pipeline, which supplies it to the eastern part of city, and informed the BMC.

An official from the civic body said, "After receiving a complaint, we sent our water department's staff to the spot. The supply from the pipeline has been stopped for the repair and will be normalised after it's done. We expect to finish by Monday."

A water pipeline burst in Bandra East had recently killed two children and injured one person.
