An infant and a nine-year-old girl died after a pipeline burst in Bandra East's Indira Nagar slum this morning.
The incident took place when a 1,450 mm diameter pipeline suddenly burst. Encroachers, who had built shanties in the vicinity of the pipeline, were swept away due to the force of the gushing water, said civic officials. A nine-year-old girl, identified as Priyanka, was rushed to VN Desai Hospital in Santacruz East, but was declared dead on arrival.
