While the National Testing Agency (NTA) will declare the results of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) as per the Supreme Court's directive, the case of two students who have moved the court against the mix-up of their answer sheets by the invigilator is set to be heard in the next hearing. These two students, however, fear losing out on their chance of admission this year for no fault of theirs.
Vaishnavi Bhopale and Abhishek Kapse, both from Maharashtra, who appeared for NEET in an exam centre in Solapur, had complained that there was a mix-up of answer sheets. The Bombay High Court earlier this month asked NTA to hold a re-exam so that these students need not suffer due to invigilator's error. However, the NTA challenged the HC ruling in the Supreme Court where a hearing was held on Thursday in this matter. Considering that over 16 lakh candidates across the country are anxiously waiting for the result, the SC directed NTA to declare the results, and scheduled the next hearing on November 12 to examine the grievances of these two students in detail.
"Once the result is declared, how do we stand a chance to save this academic year? After the result is declared, a merit list is prepared and admissions are held in different states. Similarly, the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) will begin the admission process here in Maharashtra too," shared Kapse, adding that he fears that the delay will only lead to them losing out on admission. He, however, is already making a second attempt at NEET because in the earlier attempt he was not getting a seat in any government college and private college was not affordable. "Our answer sheets, which are OMR sheets where we have to circle the correct answer, and the question papers were from different sets. It was pointed out to the invigilator immediately, but there was no rectification," said Bhopale.

The MBA CET result continues to be on hold as the Bombay High Court is hearing a case where some students have complained about the examination pattern. The next hearing will take place on November 16. With CETs already delayed this year, further delay in results and the subsequent admission process is going to hamper the academic year. CET Cell Commissioner RS Jagtap said, "The last hearing was scheduled on Monday but the matter was not heard. Next date given by the court was in December, but after we explained the urgency of the matter, it is now shifted to November. Our efforts are on to declare the result as soon as possible. But, since HC has put a stay on it, we will have to wait until more clarity on it from the court."
