The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has finally declared the dates for interviews for the 16 assistant municipal commissioner (AMC) posts with the BMC. The interviews will be held from August 28 to 30. The exam for the same was held in April 2022.

mid-day had reported that there were 16 vacancies for AMCs in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Of these, 5 posts are vacant and the 11 others are being run by executive engineers. MPSC is in charge of appointments of civil servants in the state. According to a BMC official, the administration had requested recruitment for these 16 AMCs in 2019. These posts are vacant due to the delay by MPSC. MPSC has now published the dates for the interviews after which the final list of successful candidates will be published in September. After three months of training these Assistant Municipal Commissioners will start working with BMC.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray had slammed the state government in July over the vacant post of AMC. Thackeray claimed this is the reason behind the mess the city is currently in. He also claimed that the BMC administration had chosen their favourite junior officials to run the wards. According to the BMC data there are 36 AMC posts in Mumbai for 24 administrative wards and other departments.
