The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena-led by Raj Thackeray has offered to revamp Shivaji Park free of cost. The entire Rs 4 crore costs will be roped in from the corporate social responsibility funds.

"When the MNS was in power in the Nashik Municipal Corporation in 2012- 2017, we completed several major projects using CSR funds," Thackeray said in his letter to BMC chief Iqbal Chahal, reports Times of India.

"In fact, we had set up the rainwater harvesting system at Shivaji Park using CSR funds too, but it was shut down in 2017. Given the financial situation of the BMC, it would be better if this revamp project is executed using CSR funds...I also request you to stop the tender process immediately," the letter added.

While Chahal has not received Thackeray's letter, he said; the local ward has gone ahead with the tender.
