Starting today, you will have to pass through surprise nakabandi in the Mira-Bhayandar-Vasai-Virar (MBVV) region as around 1,100 newly-inducted constables will be deployed on the roads to conduct checks. Last year, the constables were recruited in the MBVV police, and on February 17-18, they completed their training and were inducted into the force.
To maintain law and order and control crime in the region, MBVV Police Commissioner Madhukar Pandey has decided to deploy all the new constables on roads for nakabandi. The cops have decided on 7 to 8 spots within each police station's jurisdiction to conduct surprise checks.
Speaking with mid-day, Pandey said, "Approximately 1,100 new constables joined the police force last year and they have completed their training. We now have around 3,000 personnel in total, and we have decided to start having surprise nakabandi in the MBVV areas starting today. We have identified all the nakabandi points, and will enforce surprise road blockades for checking on a daily basis."
According to Pandey, the decision has been taken to prevent chain snatching, theft, robbery and drug trafficking. "Additionally, we will assist the traffic police in managing traffic congestion. Cops will be present on the roads at all times to assist citizens," he explained. A police officer elaborated that in the Mira-Bhayandar area, 29 points have been selected to conduct daily nakabandi. "Each spot will have five to six constables and one police sub-inspector present. The local ACP and DCP will also visit the sites," he said.

DCP, MBVV Zone-1, Prakash Gaikwad said, "We started conducting surprise checks in Mira-Bhayandar areas on Tuesday and will expand the exercise to the rest of the MBVV region today." Cops will be available at all times, helping prevent theft, housebreakings, robberies, and other criminal incidents," he added.
